Sermon by Benny Thomas

Reverend William “Benny” Thomas, born on October 29, 1950, in McCaysville, Georgia, was a devoted pastor and family man who passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2016, in Rydal, Georgia. He faithfully served as pastor at several churches, including Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cartersville, where he was a dedicated member and recently stepped down as pastor. His ministry also extended to Guiding Light Baptist Church in East Point, Clay Road Baptist Church in Austell, and Plainview Baptist Church in Adairsville. Beyond his pastoral duties, Benny enjoyed a career at Lockheed-Martin in Marietta and cherished time spent boating, camping, gardening, and vacationing with his family. He is remembered for his unwavering faith, love for his family—especially his six grandchildren—and his lasting impact on the communities he served.
